Money Shot

This expression has such wonderful clarity of purpose that we often take it for granted and forget what it is meant to convey.

In business, as in our daily lives, we have to be prepared to adjust our planning not in terms of long term goals, but rather in terms of the small things that creep up on us as we try to go about making sure that we are on top of the situation, that we have the tools to deal with the uncertainty of everyday events.

But this should not keep us from realizing that when we go into business for ourselves, when we make that decision to take the bull by the horns, as it were, we are in essence giving that particular enterprise our total attention and dedication.

And what does that mean?

Does it mean that we must always maximize our efforts first thing in the morning when we prepare ourselves to deal with what the day will bring? Or does it mean that once we set our goals and priorities that the only thing we have to do is maintain a minimum effort, trust our luck and the outcome will conform to what we set out to do in the first place? Sort of like kicking the tires of the car, every morning, before we head out to fight traffic

The truth is rather simple and direct. To make the most of, as the title of this piece suggests, is to go all the way out when we are ready to bat, to use a much-touted metaphor. To draw a simple analogy with baseball, it is hard to imagine a batter going out and not performing at his peak when his turn to bat comes up.

His whole goal, his total concentration, is on hitting that ball out of the park. He does not think of what he did on the last inning; that’s history. He gets up and gives it his greatest effort! The pre-game strategy and warm up will pay off.

And it is his consistency that leads not only to singles, doubles or triples, with no errors, but also to the ultimate goal: A homer. If his preparation has been done with due diligence and, with a bit of luck, it will be homer with the bases loaded! That’s keeping your eyes on the ball.

Yeah, that’s the ticket and that is what we should aim with our On-Line Business if we want to obtain the financial success that we deserve and desire! To be consistent with our batting average, to be on top of the pitch and to hit that ball with everything we can bring to the effort, to swing for the fences regardless of what the pitcher—life and its vicissitudes—throws at us.

Practicing to take full advantage of our On-Line Business is an on-going adventure. It is not just for the moment and that’s it. It has to be long lasting and consistent with our established goals, it is a dedication to Excellency, to Success and to Financial Independence; it is, indeed, to capitalize and get the most out of our planning and business goals.

Ed Levesko reflects on the wonderful opportunities that giving an On-Line Business our best efforts is the best decision we can make. Presently living in Southern California, he is working on a long term writing project.
